So when a person outgrows / transcends their pacemaker as new tech comes along or their needs change, the old pacemaker is usually destroyed. Obviously there would be medical liability in putting a second-hand pacemaker in another, human patient but instead of destroying these, they’re donating them to UGA and putting them in dogs with serious need.
