Lost Dog?

Posted on June 3, 2021

Do this and your dog will never get lost. Hello everyone, I see a lot of messages almost on a daily basis on dogs that accidentally get out of their house and get lost. It is very very sad to hear this when there is a very easy solution for it. I’ve worked with dogs for many years, at dog rescues in Mexico and I’ve had many dogs of my own. I don’t pretend to be an expert on canines but I have found this solution works the best to avoid your dog from ever getting lost in your neighborhood. The solution is: Walk your dog! Yes it’s that simple. A dog that gets walked around his neighborhood will learn how to come back to his/her house where he ever to get out of the house by accident. I have a great excellent example of this. I was living in Mexico back then and I took my dog to the vet which was about 2 miles away from our house. We went walking there. My dog was very afraid of vets so when we got close to the vet she started squirming around in her collar and got loose. She started running away from me and there was no way I could get a hold of her. I started running behind her to try to keep track of her but she ran so fast I couldn’t see where she had gone. As I was running towards a very busy road I saw her at the side of the road trying to cross it and I was terrified. Luckily she made it safely to the other side of the road and kept running. When I got to the house guess where I found her!? Right in front of our front door! Had I not walked her on a daily basis she would not have known how to get back home. A dog is very much like a child, if you take your child on walks around your neighborhood they will know how to come home just like a dog. I know we all live busy lives and we can’t walk our dogs on a daily basis but even if you were to walk them occasionally that’s all it takes. Walk your dog = No lost dog. Try it. You’ve got nothing to lose except a few pounds! And your dog will love the walk too!
